Try pulling up on the bars to lift the front wheel then when you go to lift the rear wheel point your toes down a bit and kind of "claw" the pedals to lift them up with you.
You can also practice using you arms input standing beside the bike by lifting the front wheel then rotating the bars forward with your arms and the rear wheel will come off the ground.
So it is a combo of the two things.
Good luck, have fun and keep practicing!
