It all depends on which style of taekwondo and who the instructor is,
because there are a lot of sloppy good for nothing instructors that give the art a bad name

Only in perfect idealism can one martial art be PHYSICALLY "better" than another.....but you have to understand that it depends on each individual persons ability...you can't judge one persons amazing muay thai to one's bad TKD OR vise versa one's amazing TKD and one's bad muay thai cuz if you have seen the past two years TKD VS. Muay thai, Muah thai won one year and TKD one the other year both completely dominating eachother. also you are bound by sets of rules...

i totally know what your talking about.
it hurts more if the board doesn't break. hand breaks on double boards are so hard.
i would take my hat off to her... if i had one

I've always enjoyed comparing martial arts I don't study with ones that I do, it can be quite inspiring, and sometimes gives you a new perspective on an old technique! It's the guys who don't do anything at all and are simply Youtube Warriors who shouldn't talk!

Nice breaks, I am assuming she had a foot injury cause she didnt use any foot techniques to break. Board breaking is harder than it looks for any of you scoffing at what she just accomplished.

if you know ANY TKD forms...then you would understand the hint that TKD also uses elbows and knees but in competition there are boundaries of rules that are different from muay thai...which do not allow the use of elbows and knees for whatever reason...but on the street..you better believe you would see some. there is a big misconception when comparing two or more arts and unless you actually take and understand the arts, then you shouldn't talk.

That girl is awesome!!

The argument should not be in my opinion whose art is the best, but who is the more complete artist. Also, there are different situations both in competition and the real world where certain techniques are going to work no matter what country the style originated in or what style the person practices. What works works an can't be denied.

Ok, Sure Tae Kwon Does revovlve on 80% kicking, but that doesnt say that we dont practice the other 20% punching. And Also it all depends on who is teaching the art of Tae Kwon Do.
implaxis -- you promised (suggested?!) you'd post the kick breaks! ;-) I for one would LOVE to see them. Especially to quiet all these naysayers who question whether Chris can even do the kicks! THANKS!

pretty good, no offence, but i think some kicks would have been more appropriate, if i were judging, i wouldn't grade very high becuz they were all hand techniques, it was good she did more than one board for each one, but yea, im just saying, great job, not many people have the will to go that far, hopefully i can ^_^ (im only 1st dan right now, halfway to 2nd)

This is just one of several required breaks for this test, and the only hand technique for this one. I wasn't going to post the entire test but may extract the kick breaks later.
