Rootbeer was being groomed to be the king of the division but his plans were sideswiped when Mike "The Face" Meitin defeated him for the title in a controversial decision. The Face left TNF and when he did, many believed Rootbeer was the true champion so he was given another shot against the # 1 Contender- Damion "The Demon" Bieber.
