Our skin renews itself every 30 days. Old cells sluff off and new cells take their place. Unfortunately, as we age, this process becomes less efficient and although new cells are still replacing the dead ones, some of the dead skin cells do not sluff off entirely.
Dermaplaning is a non-invasive epidermal ablation procedure that uses an Aestheticians blade to gently scrape and remove the outer layer of the epidermis. The technical term for this layer is reffered to as the "Stratum Corneum". This layer is made up of dead skin cells and serves to protect the skin.
However, if there is an over abundance of dead skin cells then other nutrients and oxygen cannot penetrate. Getting a dermaplaning procedure removes this over abundance of dead cells so that the skin can receive nutrients through beneficial skincare products and much needed oxygen.
