also here's a little tip, you can shift a little bit earlier, you don't have to wait for all the red lights to light up, you can shift quite comfortably when there are 2 or 3 lights left to light up.
and try to short shift at the entrance to the chicane after turn one and then you can take it full throttle rather than being in the right gear and having to back off.

I was like that when i used the default set-up, but after I went on-line and started racing in the "racing for the less talented" server I was given a set-up tweaked it a little and now I can comfortably lap at 1:17 and have a personal best of 1:16.

Not bad driving at all! Fail? How? lol. Actually my lap time and your lap time is not far off. I think they are right at the same, I remember I was never able to get below 1:20.
