  • Gesualdo was far ahead of his time harmonically. Some blame his insanity.

  • Well, intonation is astonishing, Chords ring so richly that send shivers down the listener's spine.

    I sense a sort of restrain, a "classicist" use of p and f, where a more theatrical, baroque, neapolitan soundscape would be more effective.

    This performance brings out the religious meaning of the text, and that's good, but Gesualdo's unique language seems even broader than the musical convention it is confined into.
