Beautiful.
So simple.
The end product is in appearance similar to a simple thrown bowl. Other than beauty & pleasure of making it this way, can you tell me what advantage it brings? Perhaps structural strength, like a hollowed out tree, stronger than a solid tree of the same size?
I'm total beginner & curious about the top wobble you seem so unconcerned about. You resolve this at 3.09 with a needle. But before the cut, you eliminate it by shaping the clay...

@d3jef using a butane torch quickly dries the clay a little, enough to stiffen the bottom so it doesn't collapse when pushing down the top part and forming the inside of the vessel.

I wanted to try throwing a double bowl in order to make a hollow sink with an overflow. The trouble is making the pot large enough. Does this technique work to get a bowl about 18" in diameter?

@ClayThrower aloha ! it is possibile. i've thrown 24 inch wide double walled pieces. it will take practice to throw. i also use a torch to stiffen the bottm part of the clay. you could always run the overflow hidden/rear with a extruded tube of clay. i don't think the double wall is necessary. sounds like a fun project.
