Virtual Journalism: The CDC Discusses Swine Flu

This machinima video is of an event co-created by Rita J. King and Joshua Fouts of Dancing Ink Productions and Lawrence Pintak of the American University in Cairo. Broadcast quality machinima co-created by Ill Clan Animation Studios and Dancing Ink Productions. The video was filmed in AUC's virtual newsroom in Second Life and came out of a summit that brought together bloggers and online journalists from the Arab world, Eastern Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Funded by the USAID, the goal was allow Arab participants to learn from the experiences of those working in a wide variety of countries that recently emerged from or are emerging from controlled media environments. One story that the whole world is dealing with these days is swine flu. In Cairo, the government has ordered that every single pig be killed. For that, we turned to Jay Bernhardt and Glenn Nowak of the CDC -- the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who joined us in the AUC virtual newsroom.
