1960's hit songwriter, George Goehring, together with Rod MacDonald, Ellen Bukstel and Nicole Yarling perform "Lipstick On Your Collar" for their show "My Life in the Brill Building". Watch and Listen to a slice of "music history" from the 60s. Hit Songwriter, George Goehring talks about his life in the Brill Building hit factory of the late 50's and 60's. He has enjoyed a successful songwriting career and is the writer of the gold record song "Lipstick on Your Collar" (Connie Francis) and "Half Heaven-Half Heartache" (Gene Pitney), both international hits. His songs have been recorded by such artists as Elvis Presley, Sara Vaughan, The Platters, The Brothers Four, Dion, Jay & The Americans, Guy Mitchell, The Mills Brothers and Barbara Streisand.
I must report the following 1959 incident:
Bethesda, Maryland. My aunt is driving 12-y.o. me and my similarly aged cousin from A to B. I'm spending the summer with them. Connie comes on the radio in the big Pontiac my aunt drove, singing "Lipstick..." Two 12-year-olds spontaneously break into singing along, albeit with revised lyrics.
"Pipstick on your lenis, told a tale on you..etc etc." Laugh riot. Aunt finally inquires of cousin, "Dennis, what's a LENIS?"
