Beginning January 11, 2010 a series of severe winter storms were predicted to impact the west coast of the United States from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest. On January 18, 2010 a strong winter storm hit the Pacific Northwest of Northern California and Southern Oregon. High winds were clocked at 114 M.P.H at the weather station in Cape Blanco. These storms were generating rough seas in excess of 25 feet in height. The forecast was calling for large ocean breakers of 30 feet in height. We caught a break between storms and headed down the coast to Crescent City California. We headed to a spot called Brother Jonathan vista. This area was used for a rock quarry and most of the rock had been mined off leaving a point that is accessible by car. The second rock with the crack in it is close to 70 feet tall.

  • I love to watch the live surf videos, thanks for the beauty!!

  • This is just like November on lake Superior.

  • what a load .. these are 8ft waves at best

  • I just spent two minutes watching 10 to MAYBE 15 foot breakers...if you want to see what 20, 30 and 30-PLUS foot breakers look like, watch some North Shore Hawaii videos, some South African breakers vids and some areas in South America...sorry but those waves were NEVER near 30 feet...as swells or breakers...still wicked stuff, but you over promised and under delivered...ref point - 30 feet is three stories tall...those waves were not.

  • storm watch on the Oregon coast is shit

  • wana go surfing?, meh those rocks wont hurt u

  • sit on the edge of cape kiwanda in 30 foot. the waves hit the bowl shaped cape and create 150 foot tall spray. oregon coast is amazing. raw power.

  • surf's up!!!

  • can't you keep still for a moment … you cannot show it all : you "se" things but we don't
