In this two-part documentary, Oxford Professor Richard Dawkins examines how religious faith is gaining ground in the face of rational, scientific truth. The program takes you to some of the world's religious hot-spots, both in America and the Middle East. Dawkins meets with religious leaders and their followers, as well as scientists and sceptics to examine the power of religion. Interviews with former Pastor Ted Haggard, the novelist Ian McEwan, the former Bishop of Oxford, and others offer valuable insights into the global impact and consequences of faith in the 21st century.

Along with his million-copy bestseller The God Delusion, Richard Dawkins' Root of All Evil? has helped inspire people of reason worldwide to say "Enough is enough!" Our modern world is the product of a long march from ignorance and fear to the Enlightenment and beyond, always guided by the power of science and reason. To now abandon our endeavour toward progress and knowledge for faith and superstition puts humanity in peril.

  • Religion has to be the greatest con job in the history of mankind.

1.) Believe things...not because it's rational or in evidence, but just 'cuz.

2.) You're worthless, defective, stupid and weak. You NEED religion.

3.) Give yourself, and your money, to its service.

4.) Do not question it, challenge it, or think for yourself.

And if you're not a believer: Shut up, because it's wrong to question our unsubstantiated, irrational claims.

  • Thank god i am an atheist ( lol xD )

  • @natjaa Yes and the big bang (which no one ever saw), the "pond scum" (which no one ever saw), and missing links (which are missing) don't take ANY faith at all to believe. right.

  • I worship craig christ, look up the song

  • @Ashiman12 /watch?v=3E0Bqa97tUI

    'nuff said.

  • @brooksdanielgary RNA can self-replicate, and from there on it's 'easy' to get to DNA, far better explainable than explaining where your stupid god came from.. oh wait, he was always there, such a complex being obviously didn't need to be designed, but we, less-complicated humans, we needed a designer. Seriously, wake up from your fairytale daydream and start to live in the real world.

  • @StygianBeach The reason is that science claims one thing, while religion directly opposes it.

This would be all well and fine were it not for the fact that religion is deeply ingrained in our culture; thus allowing it major influence over what is and what is not "acceptable".

And THAT would be all well and fine were it not for the fact that it's not a simple debate for these people. They're willing to literally crusade if it means their faith will be defended.

  • @parkourandguitars You must spend a lot of time pointing out misspellings on the internet which are, of course, much more important than the gist of the sentence.

  • @joemantex Yeah.. and Humans are not intelligently designed.... Our spine is an arch rotated to become a pillar. Intelligent design would be to make a pillar to act as a pillar. Religion and science have co-existed together for 300? years now. As long as religion is kept out of politics there is no problem. Humans I believe are hard wired to be religious in some form or another.

  • @jollyandwaylo You can hardly say that when you are unable to spell condescending...

  • @StygianBeach Have you never heard of the debate over Evolution vs "Intelligent Design?"

  • @campdon Faith? There is evidence for the scientific theories that explain the creation of our universe, I doubt one can say the same about the various creation myths? Just because there are unanswered questions doesn't mean that the data we do have has been accepted through faith, it has been accepted through science.
