Thai dancers at the Songran Festival, Wat Buddhapadipa วัดพุทธปทีป, Wimbledon, London, 11/04/04.
The dance is apparently called the FAWN PHOO THAI ฟ้อนผู้ไท, and is a folk dance of the PHOO THAI people who live in the Northeast (locally known as ESAN) of Thailand. The costumes show the traditional dresses of the PHOO THAI women. The dance is accompanied by folk musical instruments such as panpipes, drums, cymbals, fiddles and gongs and is performed at local festivals such as the Thai New Year, religious ceremonies or when there are important guests visiting the region.
