also you shouldn't grab the back of your head when you do it.. i usually cross my hands on my chest.. i cross my legs and keep them paralell to the floor.. and i go half way up when doing the situp..

is he not doing the situp worng? going up too high causes lower back pain. He is using lower back muscles rather than abs when he gets too high!!!!
