This isn't just a song of heartbreak, but a song of pain and dispair; the only way someone can cope with pain can be a substance at times, which can lead to death. When pain is too much, substances can make you feel better, but can end all the pain forever. That is the moral of this song... Pain can't be cured so easily, but drinking seems like the perfect cure until it's the final one. I know... I can't stop drinking either :(
