The reasoning is sound: The root of all religion (not man-made) is God. Therefore "His" Voice can be heard through His Messengers. Given that ancient times lacked abundance of means to record accurately at the time the Prophet's Message, human memory, interpretation, tales, etc do exist. But the essence flows throughout, and can be discerned. There is a fundamental unity inherent which allows for the seeker to realize this. Baha'u'llah's Words are sufficient proof in themselves for this.

"O Son of Spirit! The best beloved of all things in My sight is Justice. Turn not away therefrom if thou desirest Me. By its aid thou shalt see with thine own eyes and not through the eyes of others, and shalt know of thine own knowledge and not the knowledge of thy neighbor. Ponder this thy heart, how it behooveth thee to be. Verily, justice is my gift to thee, and a sign of my loving kindness. Set it then before thine eyes." from The Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah
