Many watches are "chronographs". That means they have a stopwatch function. Some people buy them because they like the look but are not sure of how to use them. How do the buttons work? Here's a how-to tutorial that is easy to understand. I explain the buttons, additive timing, and the lap timer. This is #1 of 2 videos, using a watch that has the normal 3 hands plus 2 hands dedicated to chronograph timing. Also see my 2nd video with a watch that has 3 hands for the chronograph.

  • well its a replica asian automatic movement. how much do you think a overhaul would cost?

  • @swpracing I don't know exactly. Overhaul usually costs me about $100 on a simple mechanical watch, more for better movements, more for complicated movements like chronographs, or more if parts are needed. Speed adjustment alone is less. But with asian movements in replicas the quality is unpredictable. With such low cost movements it is often cheaper to just replace the movement.

  • WHAT IF YOUR WATCH IS MOVING FAST IN GENERAL?

  • @swpracing If the watch is fast or slow overall, then it needs to be serviced.

  • excellent video , just a question though , how do i know that my chronograph is in the right month ? i mean that, the date is currenlty correct but how do i know that it will change correctly day again at 31 (since we have october) and not in 30 ??

there is no visual indication of a month.

  • @renos24 Most watches just run 31 days every month. At the end of a month with fewer days you have to advance the date yourself. Usually you can pull the crown out half way, then turn the crown to change the date. You should be careful about doing this. Most watches engage a date changing mechanism between 9pm and 3am. You should not try to change manually at this time or that mechanism can be damaged. I usually change the date at breakfast time on the morning of the 1st day of the month.

  • So much clearer than the instruction manuals that came with the watch. Thank you for your help. What I thought was the seconds hand should always be at zero. I've been one of those guys who's been timing since he got the watch. Now my timer is stopped, my timer hands are at zero, I know how to time when I need to, but more importantly I don't look like a guy who spent money on a watch he doesn't know how to operate. Good answer on the months/days question as well. Thank you Snythspike!

  • thanks

  • so if it is based on features, how do I know if my watch is broken?
