  • Hi, I also have an old Bing Model (latest of 1903- as the logo was used only upto 1903). But it doesnot produce enough steam to drive the wheel. I want to know the fuel used to heat the boiler for generating the steam.

You can check my loco on my facebook profile of scmitra. My loco is EXACTLY like yours and maybe you can help me with it. I have posted two small videos on youtube under the Description Bing Steam and Bing Steam 1903. And how did you get the flames

    Do help me out!

  • @scmitra Hi, I used Denatured Alcohol for fuel (it's also called Methylated Spirits).

For wick I use ceramic long lasting wick from mfsteam.com

You want to make sure that the wick is not packed too tight or it won't let enough fuel into the wick for a good flame.

Also check to make sure your steam lines are clear (sometimes they get clogged with oil) and make sure your cylinders are clean as well.
