I have a problem with my Ford Mustang GT Convertible, 2003.
Please help me diagnose this problem.
I just bought the vehicle.
The rear window -- when it goes up or down, the window pushes out this once piece of rubber.
The piece of rubber is held in place by what looks like two plastic screws.
The front of the rear window, as it goes up, pushes towards the front on this rubber piece.
And I have to keep pushing it back in.
This only happens on the driver's side. The passenger's side works just fine.
What's wrong with this?
Is there an easier fix than a day at the dealer's service center and the associated $200?
Thanks!

  • Thanks for the reply. I ended up having the dealer adjust the window. It cost about $150.

  • Have the same car replaced both sides for $40.

  • all you need is to replace the two plastic retaining pins which you can get for cheap at any auto parts store, auto zone, oreillys, advance, they will all have them, thats it!!!

  • Take that piece off and give it a little bend. It is made out of metal that can easily be bent back into shape. Play around with it until the window rolls down and up smoothly and make sure that it is sealing around the weather striping.

  • hey, i like your car man, Rocks,if its me i'll never mind about that problem, i hope u solve it

  • Hey there i'll message ya with a fix for this... not enough room to type the whole thing out here.

  • Perhaps the rubber is gripping too tightly when it moves downward. Use some Vasoline so it can glide over easy behind that spot.

  • Thanks for the detailed response. I still have not asked the dealer to fix this issue.
