@drumstyx6464 the jazz tounge is really effective on a tune like donna lee is since bebop is meant to be made of passing tones then your placing all of the "right" notes on one and three however your swingin, but! do not be too sticato when using your jazz tounge, the most effective players can play very legato yet still use the jazz tounge articulation

@drumstyx6464 the traditional way of articulation is ti-ya ti-ya, that gives you a feel of the beats falling on one and three, if you use the JAZZ tounge then what you are doing is reversing that method of tounging, meaning instead of ti-ya, you go ta-ti-ya, which will make the heavy beats on 2 and 4 which will make you swing alot more, thats the standard articulation of swing music.

@harbansjoeljr What is meant by jazz tonguing? i'm working out of the omnibook myself, and there's no articulation markings at all. That led me to believe I can articulate it however (of course preserving a bebop feel), in my case in this point, that means slurring most of the notes.

What make is that saxophone?

alot more practice is needed, try articulating your jazz tounging alot more

Try to remember that bebop swing phrasing at this tempo: 8th notes should be phrased more like a triplet with the first 2 tied together, and less like a dotted 8th note. That's how you start swinging more like Bird, and less like Lawrence Welk.
