In the 16th and 17th Centuries emeralds from what is now Columbia, South America adorned the crown jewels of Europe's royalty. One of the most famous sources for high-quality emeralds is the 3.5 square mile Muzo Mining District. As small as it is, Muzo produces some of the finest emeralds available today.

Lucy's gems is very pleased to present this exceptionally large example of a Muzo Emerald. At 20.54 carats, this gemstone dwarfs most emeralds (and other gems too), as well as making one remarkable eye-grabbing presentation. This emerald displays the usual inclusions that accompany a Type III gemstone, ranging from deep translucency to very good clarity. The stone appears very well cut, with an excellent "grass" green, well saturated hue typically associated with Muzo emeralds.

As with all of Lucy's rings, the mount is hand-made in the U.S.A. Construction of the ring is also unique, and an indicator of its hand-made origins. Construction is virtually a ring within a ring. A honeycomb of 14k gold rests against the skin for superior comfort. Around this this honeycomb, an outer ring/mount of 14k white gold securely holds the emerald, and attempts to gild the proverbial lily with .46cttw diamonds. This ring is just the ticket for the discerning lover of emerald jewelry, or the serious collector of fine gemstones. Emeralds of this size and quality just do not come around that often. Since this is a seriously rare gem, it is accompanied by a third-party appraisal, placing value of the ring at $50,000.
