Singapore's first 2008 Olympic silver medalist is Yip Pin Xiu, not Li Jiawei, Feng Tianwei or Wang Yuegu.

Congratualtions to Pin Xiu! We Singaporeans are proud of you! It has been 48 long years since we last won a medal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evi90pkkRPA

As for PAP's buying of an Olympic silver medal, it's shameful, especially when there is no welfare money for poor, sick or elderly Singaporeans. PAP's refusal to spend even a single cent to fulfill its governmental responsibility - take care of these Singaporeans Nation Builders who have contributed their entire lives to build up Singapore in the past 40 years - coupled with its willingness to spend millions on foreign sports players, constitutes an unacceptable behaviour that disgust all thinking native Singaporeans.

While other countries do import athletics, no other country ever treats its own native citizens with such contempt while putting foreigners/ new citizens on a pedestal!

This is an educational orientation video, aimed at introducing Singapore to new foreign students studying in Singapore and pupils holding Singapore permanent resident (SPR) cards in primary schools, secondary schools (including the Independent Schools (IS) and those in the Integrated Programme (IP)), junior colleges (JC) and the polytechnics. It is especially recommended for viewing after the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE), or the two Semestral Assessments (SA1 and SA2), or the two Continual Assessments (CA1 and CA2), where there are ample time for some Civics and Moral Education (CME). The importance of National Education (NE) cannot be overemphasized, as the Ministry of Education (MOE) has emphasized many times. Students of the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Singapore Management University (SMU) should also view this video, especially if they are under various MOE or Public Service Comission (PSC) scholarships or the edusave scheme.

Foreign Talents (FT) and other not-so-talented foreigners working at Fusionpolis, Biopolis and the other "polis" of various A*STAR organisations may be interested to infuse themselves with some knowledge of Singapore too.

Majulah Singapura!
Happy National Day, Singapore!
Let us all shine for Singapore!
May Singapore always be 晴空万里!

  • No offend but perhaps you wanna check the words Native Singaporean? Thought Native Singaporean are Malay Group?

  • Singapore is a multi-ethnic country. Malay, Chinese and Indian are the three largest. wendyneo is mentioning native-born because many of the top people on the Singapore Olympics team were immigrants from other countries like China and Indonesia.

  • Native-born Singaporeans refer to those who are born and raised in Singapore. Some ancestors of the malays are immigrants from Indonesian, like Javanese etc. Whatever it is, we should not be arguing such sensitive topic here. It will just create major disruptions to the peace and harmony in Singapore. If Chinese or Indians aren't native singaporeans, how about our MM Lee and other leaders who have helped to develop the nation? Are you going to kick them out?

  • @MountShoreMax considering massive influx of immigrant of singapore nowadays, yip is considered a native

  • you are wasting my time. instead of grasping the theme and true idea of this video, you spend your time quibbling with me over something which you are in the wrong!

  • You know what.. you should, not me. There is no exception, native which mean the first habitant of the motherland not who were born in a country... one more thing, " the malacca sultanate" or "majapahit empire". These people were not aborigines. You should read it..

  • It's an exception because that's not how countries all over the world use the word "native" or the phrase "native citizen". You should read wider

  • what do you mean the phrase native americans is an exception, it's the same word, same spelling & of course its the same meaning too. Is there any other real meaning? you know what, you're confused. I read about these "malays".. a country that you live in were in the Malay archipelago since 15th century thru out 18th century. The malays had their own kings & queens, warriors, ministers etc..They had their own empire & governance at that time. Do you call that aborigines?
