I've had a couple of cars turn in front of me while on my bike. Fortunately I've been able to avoid them so far. You'd think a big bright headlight would get you seen, but it's almost invisible to the other cars. I bought these lights on ebay for just under $15 including shipping. Took me an hour to hook them up and now I do feel a lot more visible.

While testing them yesterday I was asked by two people what they were, and I could see more people looking my way. I added the switch in case I needed to turn them off if I came across a police vehicle, as I'm not sure what the legal status is of having flashing lights on the bike.

The video doesn't quite show the flashing as it is in real life. It is a rapid flash, with equal amounts of on and off time. I think it has something to do with the flash rate and the frames per second of the video clashing.

  • @patrickza In all U.S. States, It is LEGAL to have flashing lights of any color excluding the combinations of red/blue(All States), red/red(New York) , blue/blue(Illinois). What you have is white/white, which is Legal in all areas of the U.S.

  • Agreed... who cares about illegal... SAFETY is number one on a bike....

But... I can't find these anywhere... Can you help me please???

    Thx...

  • To hell with "illegal"! It's about time governments got real with bike safety, instead of churning out the same ineffective public information films year on year. Strobes should be compulsory on motorcycles.

  • im going to get some next week.. by right i should be dead by now... i think car windshields should be made from the drivers Prescription for glasses

  • CFR 49, Part 571, Section 108, S7.9.4 allows motorcycles to have modulating headlights. It specifies the number of cycles per minute, min - max power, etc. Title 49, Section 30103 under "Preemption" prohibits states or a political subdivisions of a state from preempting US law, therefore modulators are legal in all 50 states and US territories. Canada has identical laws. Your modification is almost assuredly illegal. Best of luck!

  • erm how do you connect the wiring and the switch ?

  • use amber, its not illegal :P i got amber/white on my motorbike

  • and not only there... :)

  • if u live in the US im pretty sure its illegal
