What are the consequences of a childhood removed from nature?

At a time when children play more behind screens than outside, PLAY AGAIN explores the changing balance between the virtual and natural worlds. Is our connection to nature disappearing down the digital rabbit hole?

This documentary follows six teenagers who, like the average American child, spend five to fifteen hours a day behind screens. PLAY AGAIN unplugs these teens and takes them on their first wilderness adventure no electricity, no cell phone coverage, no virtual reality.

What are we missing when we are behind screens? How does this impact our childrens well being, our society and the very future of our planet?

Through the voices of children and leading experts like Richard Louv, Juliet Schor, Bill McKibben, Gary Small and David Suzuki, PLAY AGAIN introduces new perspectives and encourages action for a sustainable future.

  • Hello. My name is Ryan and I'm 16. EVEN when I was younger people played outside more. Odd isn't it? It changed fast. For about 2 years I went through a period of using computer more then going outside... but I've been into entomology lately so that has changed. You wiill notice you feel soooo much better once you start going outside. Sickness and pain is much rarer. It's just HEALTHIER for you and also good for one's mind.

  • How many times do these kids use the word "LIKE"

  • So next they'll be making a documentary of people who watch too many documentaries instead of going outside. Silly. But I get the point. I just thought it was funny that many people are on their computers right now, judging others for not unplugging.

  • In Oregon we are working hard to get kids unplugged and outside... Google "Twin Rocks Outdoor Education" to learn more.

  • So true. This generation of children is missing touch with reality.

  • My Photographic project focused on how our kids are stuck inside but with nature reflected in the windows of their glass boxes, like exotic birds!
