They choose to vote for a country that acts in some measure of solidarity with them. This is constitutional, democratic, Human. You cannot convince me these people making tens of billions of dollars exploiting the workers in this country and others can't afford to give their workers a living wage. Everyone I know who is unemployed wants very much to work. But they need a job they can actually live on. Not part time minimum wage.

Fact: Before Reagan began the reversal of tariffs it was more profitable for companies to employ in this country, and they did.

@judyleasugar97 Simple math on living wage: If the cost of employing someone is greater than the revenue that worker would bring in, that worker doesn't get hired... Your claim about people wanting to work is 100% inconsistent with reality - statistics prove that unemp checks make people stay unemployed longer. Furthermore, if welfare worked, it would get people OFF welfare, not keep them on it... And your general statement on tariffs means nothing - look at the fallout from SmootHawley.

@TiltedTalkDomagoy: According to inflation a living wage is $15.00 an hour. This should be the minimum. There were tarrifs for many years and the economy didn't go under. It's a myth that people don't want to work. There are a few rotten apples but most people do want to work and take care of their families. I guess you haven't heard about the high jobless rate. Welfare is all some people have.

@judyleasugar97 What do you consider a living wage? And, what plan to you have for tariffs? Something like SmootHawley? Protectionist tariffs will lead to another great depression, but that's probably what you want so we can usher in bigger government... And if you pay people not to work, they won't work. That's according to studied by Obama's for chief econ adviser (Summers). Besides, welfare keeps people down. If welfare worked, it would no longer exist.

I would be in favor of the wealthy paying less in taxes if they would bring jobs back to America and pay their workers a living wage and benefits. Let's reward them that way.

@judyleasugar97 Jobs are sent overseas because our govt makes it too expensive to do business here. Just because someone makes more $ than me doesn't mean they should pay a larger % of their income to the govt. That's called theft (& Marxism & Socialism), not some "obligation" that politicians dream up. We have a system where most people don't pay a penny into it so they aren't vested & don't care what happens. Welfare keeps people poor - I don't know how that makes life better for them.
