HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - An area group is encouraging people to look up and reach for the stars.
Tom Kasner is the President of the Starlight Astronomy Club. He always brings a telescope that he made for three dollars. He says it helps people feel more comfortable to see how simple the telescope really is. But they're not all simple, he brings another telescope programmed with 45 thousand stars, moons and planets. He says some of the objects in the sky are just so fabulous you realize how small we all are by comparison.
Kasner wants to share the beauty of the night sky with everyone.
You can visit the Starlight Astronomy Club at www.starlightastronomyclub.com.

last night i saw some thing i have never seen before nor heard of. At about 3:40am on 18sept. toward the ENE(compass direction might be a little off) at about 40deg above the horizon i saw a single bright blue flash that lasted about 1/4 to 1/2 a second. It was very brilliant at the point source with bright blue fog around it total size about 1/2 the size of a green pea. The point color was a pure blue, that not unlike a laser while. what was this?.
