jongib369: Hakeem blocks the skyhook here: /watch?v=PuQbzgqGwmw
I have seen Wilt, Bill Willoughby (on youtube), Manute Bol also block the skyhook.
Wilt and Hakeem's are more special....Wilt because he was still able to jump like that after his horrible knee injury, and Hakeem because he gave away a lot of inches to Jabbar and was undersized. But Kareem still lit both of them up for them to get in their highlight reel skyhook block,lol.

@sumskater999 true but you have to realize the times....wilt has hardly any footage of him because of that era....they were cheap asses back then....when hakeem blocked that shot it would have been during the Jordan era....id say most CRAZY plays of his are on the internet...blocking the hook shot is INSANE and so RARE they would have to have a highlight of it somewhere..Just being skeptical like I said

@jongib369 Well there isn't film of EVERY great NBA moment on YouTube. I know Wilt blocked it more than just in this clip, but that isn't on YouTube. I've never come across wrong information on Wikipedia except on a minor page, plus I heard it on TV once when they were talking about Kareem's sky hook. But Kareem does deserve the respect, because even when it was blocked, it was one of the rarest occurrences in NBA history.

@sumskater999 hmm why isnt their any film of it then? it was the 80's and hat video would be everywhere as a famous highlight....Im just being skeptical, it is wikipedia lol :P...Idk though you could be right im not trying to be a know it all douchebag or anything

@jongib369 He did block it. Read about the sky-hook on Kareem's Wikipedia page.
Hakeem was the greatest shot-blocker of all time. OF COURSE he blocked it.

@jongib369 The issue is not the definition of goal tend, but whether the ball was on its way down, or not. I disagree with your judgment that its not on the way down. I very likely saw that game, having played and watched basketball since the '70s, so there's not much you can tell me about the game, son.

@kimisdaman goal·tend·ing/ˈgōlˌtendiNG/
Noun:
A violation in which a defensive player interferes with a shot when it is on its downward arc or is on, within, or over the rim.
So...even though the ball was never on its way down...and its only a goal tend when its on its way down...it still is because of your own definition of what goaltending is?....cool story bro

@jongib369 You call the game your way, ref, and I'll call it mine. Baseket counts.

@sumskater999 Idt hakeem could block it considering he never did...if he did, their would be footage of it
I think this video should end any discussion from the nay sayers, that Wilt wasn't great. No center in history, That includes Russell, Shaq, Howard etc, could have pulled off a double block of kareem's skyhook. His leaping ability from the standing position was unmatched. He had great timing, and as kareem once stated, "He could leap through the roof".

@jongib369 You can't assume that just because something isn't on YouTube, it didn't happen. Magic Johnson and Kevin Johnson fought once, and Magic got ejected but that clip isn't on YouTube. Same with when Dominique fought Bill Laimbeer. Both of those were in the same era, so YouTube isn't exactly comprehensive.
