Gazprom to negotiate providing Europe with gas supply

Gazprom, Russia`s state gas company, has accused Kiev of illegally siphoning off Russian gas after the company cut off its gas supplies to Ukraine. Naftogaz, Ukraine`s state energy firm, denied the accusations in the latest development in a $2bn debt dispute between the two countries.
Sergei Kupriyanov, a Gazprom spokesman, said: `The Ukrainian side openly admits it is stealing gas and is not ashamed of this.` Alexei Miller, the chief executive of Gazprom, said on Thursday that he wanted Ukraine to pay $418 per 1,000 cubic metres (tcm) of gas, compared with the $179.5 Kiev paid in 2008. Ukraine says the most it can afford to pay is $235.
A Gazprom delegation will leave for Czech Republic and hold talks with the EU president country on the issues of providing Europe with gas supply.
