The Lake County Sheriff's Department in Indiana has 4 operational aircraft. They have two OH-58s and one OH-1 Huey, and the newly acquired Euro copter EC120.

This was one of their OH-58's at the Munster National Night Out Against Crime, which is held annually in early August.

Unfortunately, at the time, they did not receive their new Euro copter, so hopefully they will land that one here next year! :)

Enjoy!!!

  • Eurocopters are also WAY more expensive and don't autorotate as well as this ex-Army OH-58 which probably only cost $150,000... if the Sheriff's department had to pay the government anything to buy it. Free... verses a multi million dollar Eurocopter. Hmmm! I'd chose the free OH-58 Kiowa that flies and does everything they need it to do and then some. So, it makes sense. These things glide 1 mile horizontally for every thousand feet they lose in an autorotation. That's hard to beat!

  • Euro Copters are waaayyyyyyyyyy faster and better than this bell.
