i love madness myself, what hawkbot is saying is 100% true, but i always felt that they were mad set on topping the charts with there wackiness and crazy songs, that when they did actually sit down and write something like the rise and fall album, which was wholly a different direction for them, their fans who were a mixture of pre pubescent teens and oldies wanting to be young, didn;t like it cos it werent skankable. i thought that at the time myself, but now i realise it was there best album.

@hawkbot The Beatles, Rolling, Bowie, Police, Dire Straits and many others gained a world wide fame; and what about Madness?? This is one of the best groups in history and they are not recognized as they deserve (songs like that only confirms what I am saying) Their originality was 100%. Glory to Madness and the madness!!!

I remember buying this on tape when it came out in 1982 from a shop in Walthamstow, East London. I'm pretty sure somewhere in the loft the tape still exists, completely worn out. I then managed to get a copy on CD which I still play to this very day, what a great album (seriously underrated) but then again most 'classics' normally are!
