*Spoiler~Disclaimer~Bonus: Although in this small one-quarter screen size you may understand the gist of this provocative docudrama filmwork as the publics revelation for their first time to actually see the suns surface activity, the actual image of seeing the suns surface observed live though an h-alpha solar research grade telescope as it appears to the observer in real time is much more in detail, conversely by comparison it is diminutive here in the small internet film screen. *Hence, what we think we see in TV and movies and books photographs is lacking terribly as to what real life experience offers. Especially in astronomy- "Live observing through a high quality telescope is a universe away from you in movie films and photographs!"

Also the live actual image in the h-alpha telescope is rendered in a dark red~orange color where in the film here at about the 5:33 minute run time, it pauses to a black screen momentarily and then the suns surface image is shown black and white. At 5:37 the first solar image through the telescope appears, note the "mountains of fire" actually known as "edge prominences" which are hydrogen gasses physically streaming a a constant process for over 5 billion years and seen on some days to be as much as several hundred thousand miles from the surface edges as observed in the solar h-alpha telescope, (here in the first image at the upper left solar discs edge.) The second image shows more detail of the surface only without the edge of the suns horizon; the appearance of dark black smoke trailing over the image are high clouds in our earth's atmosphere present above on the day of observing. Note the filamentary structure on the suns surface, actual hydrogen "field lines" of electromagnetic energy as it shifts the hydrogen gasses and they lift from the solar surface and cool to a darker contrasted textured image.

The music score gives an ethereal quality to the video, makes you really pay attention to what is happening and feel the action. It is very simply done, but speaks volumes about people connecting through your telescope. You are truly providing an "instrument for change" in the world.

Dear starwalk33 - Thanks for the nice comment. I have actually spent more time under the night sky for over 40 years before I spent the past 7 under the sun with the public. Imagine that you are only seeing an artful film-work here for 6 1/2 minutes. On a cross country solo road trip 10,000 miles in only 7 weeks time in May ~ June 2000. I'm pleased by reading all of your comments again today. I sit in Central Oregon slopes of the Cascades into the high desert after proividing two star parties with other astronomer friends. My new high-tech laptop shows a pop-up at our video site advertises Philip Glass' Glassworks CD. I am elated that we are promoting Mr. Glass' work as I thought it so fitting for this work when I chose it. John Broxton affected its audio use to the max to enhance the film. -Mark Seibold
