A modelled "twister" experiment

Used procedural material to create the "hurricane". The lightning actually cut the power off the renderer! I had to render the piece in two parts and manually finish the frame that got short circuited. :)

how do you make the lightning? a edited mesh? just curious because art of ilusion does not have particle system

It's a tube object and five (or so) point lights. I used an emissive texture on the tube and switched it's visibility on and off. As I recall the lights have their intensity go from zero to "a lot" and back instead of just on and off.

Somehow the lightning crashed the rendering, so there are one or two hand edited frames in the middle of it. :)
