  • You can pull if you are swinging with the body then left side dominant ,is the way to go.

You can keep the straight left wrist if you thrust or push w the right arm. Some people feel they get more power this way and consistency. The right hip can also push the the left hip out of the way,you will retain the proper structure. This has all been proven by Homer Kelly.Personally I don't like to break the body into pieces right and left.Everything should move together as are bodies are made to funtion.

  • Agree. But to get the 'move together' feel, sometimes you have to explain both sides.... phil

  • Of all the videos I've seen (Leadbetter included) this is the best no bullshit explanation of the golf swing. Well done

  • Thanks for the positive comment. I mainly try to explain things in plain English. Good luck! phil

  • In 10 years, I have seen thousands of videos. This one is the best, by far. Thanks, for the first time in my golf life, I have a clear image of the swing.

  • I own a ton of golf instructional videos and your explanation of the release is the best i've ever seen. Thanks

  • Thank you Phil. You are an gentleman and a scholar. Much appreciated and well thought out advice. Now I can't wait to hit the range!

  • Hi Phil, I have been practising pulling down, rotating as you demonstrate and I find I get great contact and much better distance and consistant good striking of the ball. My problem is I can;t seem to get straight shots. I find its difficult to time the rotation to get the club face square to the ball at impact. Any tips?

  • When i see your impact position, your hips are slightly open to the target, lets say some 5 degrees left, with plenty of rotation left for the full turn. I see in long hitters that on the impact position their hips have almost fully rotated and you can see their but completly from behind the swing. When you rotate the club in front of the ball to square the face you do it from your hips as you still have plenty of rotation left on your hip turn. This knocks 10 yards of my shots.

  • Thanks for the awesome videos. What is going wrong when I swing right over the ball? I can do this at full speed. Maybe I'm not pulling down far down enough before starting the "around" move.???

  • I am about a 22 handicap and an old guy who just figured this out. The thought in my head on the backswing is to point the butt end of the club down the line behind the ball then on the downswing bring the butt end at the ball. sounds similar to what you are saying here. in any event I just started doing this a couple of months ago..distance increased due to great ball striking as well as accuracy on shorter irons. funny thing i thought it was something silly that worked for me so didnt tellpals

  • @no2pump Well, both, or neither. I don't think this way. I just try to maintain the same position I had at set-up, The Y Shape, and turn.
