  • This is such a gorgeous Viola da Gamba I wonder who made it. The fingerboard designs are superb and not to mention the sound.

  • @UncleTito72 thanks i will check it out and consider buying after my grade 7 cello exam

being held up by my wrist (tendonitis) little scared about it as it can be a career stopper

  • @hugslyh @hugslyh They have two showrooms. one in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, and the second one in London. The company is called The Early Music Shop. This is their website: earlymusicshopdotcom (you can't post websites here)

Don't hesitate to contact me for any questions. I don't know a whole lot, but I'm happy to share the little knowledge I have. Good luck!

  • @UncleTito72 i live in the uk (scotland) where is this place in the uk?

  • @hugslyh In what country do you live? There is a company in Spain and another one in the UK that will sell you a reasonably priced viol. They even sell a kit, if you would like to build your own.

  • @UncleTito72 erm im not in america would i be able to get one im most of the way across the glode

  • @hugslyh If you join the Viola Da Gamba Society of America, they have a rental program. Very cheap actually. It depends on the availability of viols, but it is something like $300 for a year.

  • @UncleTito72 i know it sucks they are allot of money wonder if i could do the same i have with my cello i rent it from the region i get cello lessions from

  • @hugslyh Viola da gambas are kind of expensive, even at the student level. The best viols for the money are probably Charlie Ogle's. They are made in China under his supervision. You'll still spend over $2000 for a starters viol. Good Luck!

  • @hugslyh Generally 6. 7 if the viol is in the french tradition, but British, Italian and German instruments all were made with 6 strings.
