The story of the family of Nelson Adhok should serve to remind all Kenyans that there is new terror lurking in our midst...like those of families before him, Mr. Odhok who lives in Nairobis Saika estate fell into the hand of criminals who not only robbed him of money and valuables but also kidnapped his form two son and are now demanding a ransom of one million shillings. What is worse, it is nearly 48 hours and yet the kidnappers are yet to contact him. The incident and similar ones that have happened before should strike terror in the hearts of many families and begs the question... Is anybody safe anymore? Andrew Ochieng' reports.

  • Again read my piece elsewhere, in a related editorial, on Kenya's broken boarders.

There has been an influx of Somalis and undocumented foreigners into Kenya in the last 10 years most of whose destination is Nairobi. We are a neighboring nation to a governmentless Somali and war-prone Sudan. Armed militiamen and terrorists with AK guns have taken over these areas and infiltrated cities like Nairobi. Just like Piracy, they have discovered kidnapping will earn them hard cash.

    Otwere Ombogo.
