A look at my current first aid kit (FAK). This kit goes along on all my outdoor adventures. It's small and lightweight, which means it never gets left behind. I show the items I have in the kit, and explain why I think they are important to have. This kit is designed to suit situations I reasonably expect may occur in my environment during the type of activities I do.

I believe FAKs should be designed to take into account these two factors; that is, environment and risk factors. For example, I have gear to treat snakebite. If there are no snakes where you live, obviously this would not be something you would need.

Importantly, don't just have a FAK. Make sure you have the knowledge to use it. Do a first aid course, the confidence you gain from this is well worth the effort of doing the training.

  • great vid. i'm currently putting together a survival type of bag. so thanks for showing some good ideas here.

  • @INFIDELxSTRONG I think this kit is quite basic, but glad you got some ideas. Hope to see a vid of your bag and loadout when you can.

  • Very comprehensive kit Mark, and some great tips as well, thanks my friend.

  • @ColinOutdoors Cheers Colin, thanks for watching mate.

  • Wow...thanks for the awesome Shout-out Mark, that's really appreciated. After doing my vid the other day o realized a few good items I was missing ie burn cream and a thermal blanket. I have picked them up and added them to my kit, but I had to add an addition side pouch to the FR-1 to fit it all now. Really great points about recognizing the bag is a FAK, I am going to hunt down a Velcro backed red cross for mine. I might put a thin FAK book in mine too, I have some extras from work, that way

  • @troy5690 You're very welcome Troy. I'm looking to get an FR1 bag so if you track down a suitable patch please ley me know. Take care mate.

  • great vid, nicely done.

  • Might want to include some of them sting relief wipes :)

  • @TheLazySpoiledKitty You don't need a FAK, you've got nine lives :P

  • @ER720 Good to hear, cheers ER720 :)

  • @ATF6281914 I find that with soft case I can usually get that little bit more in. With hard cases well, when they're full, thats pretty much it. Thanks for watching.
