  • Oops - a typo crept into my last post. I did, of course, mean aria, not area!!

  • Mr Madden's performance is 'musically' excellent - lovely tone and resonance. I must say I prefer my Gilbert and Sullivan sung more simply, especially this lovely area from Dr Daly, who is singing about what a simple, "pale young curate" he was years ago. Diction is all important and the more 'operatic' the singer's voice has (technically vibrato), then the more difficult it is to understand the words. That's just a personal preference though!
