Ahold

Ahold recently announced its fourth quarter financial results. The company has seen a 6% increase in net sales since its 2009 fourth quarter, totaling a whopping $5.6 billion dollars. The company cited new business ventures as part of the reason for this increase, particularly expansions of its Ukrop's stores. Ahold said in a statement that "The environment remained challenging and customers continued to focus on value, driving intense promotional activity, particularly in the United States." The company also saw a 1.9% increase in identical-store sales as well as a 2.1% increase in comparable sales.
