In certain respects I agree with your conclusion. Its natural to come to such where conclusions appear to be the highest form of currency. Any concept of physical state is ultimately rooted in an interpretation of the body (self). As such, the "digitalization" of the mind could be considered a process of this body "externalizing" itself , in a process of rediscovery with new rules. Like a white blood cell fighting an infection, Digitalization as a symptom, not necessarily a problem incarnate?
