@tttc yes, thats what i tried and it told me that the installer of the trial version could not be run on DOSbox. I have owned it before, though. So how would i download it off the internet legally? Even so, AoE 2 is more expensive by itself, so if i get that and the AoE original in a collectors pack, i have a win/win situation.

@toastybatch565 I dont know if there will be any difference between trial and the real game. You might aswell get the whole game to try. If you owned it before, you can legally download it off the Internet, otherwise it'll probably only cost a dollar to purchase.

Also, did you try installing through Dosbox?

@tttc thank you so much it ALMOST worked, but then it said that it cant be run on DOS mode. Here is what im trying to do specifically. My PC cant even install AoE (trial version). Do you think that if i get the whole game it will work? Or am i never going to play this game again? ): i hope its the first choice... Thank you for your support, though.

1. Start Dosbox.

2. Type "Mount C: pathtoAoe-folder" (such as C:\Program Files\AoE). Sometimes you have to put the path within quotes. If it doesnt work, try just "Mount C: C:\"

3. Type C:\ (or whichever root directory you mounted, D:\, etc)

4. Move to the aoe-folder, type "cd foldername". In many cases the folders' names arent the full name, but rather something like "Progra~1". Type "dir" to get all the files' names in the current folder.

5. Run the .exe file.

@tttc Its so confusing! (I'm no computer smartypants). I tried entering the location of the file and it just said that it was a directory or watever. Is there any simple way you can explain it to me? Im trying to run the trial version before i buy it again.

this is the great classic of the game. Every Aoe has this song. Im really sad i cant play this anymore. It doesnt run on Windows 7 HP, so i play Aoe 2, and with some tweaks, i can play that one. Almost just as fun.
