Michelle Harding and Andrew Klukas work through their choreography using a very special dance technique .... humor. I enjoyed the sense of play and fun these two talented dancers display while they work.

Michelle Harding first began her flamenco career under the mentorship of Oscar Nieto, and soon afterward, Kasandra La China. Her professional debut with Mozaico Flamenco Dance Theatre was in the 2005 production, Poemas de Alegria. Michelle has travelled twice to Spain to train with some of the great masters of the art including Matilde Coral, Mercedez Ruiz, Antonio El Pipa, and Maria Jose Franco. Her many years of professional performances with local cuadros (traditional flamenco groups) such as Moraima, Mimbre, Peña Buleria and Flamenco Alcala, has earned her recognition as one of Vancouver's most accomplished solo dancers. She possesses an intimate understanding of the arte and structures of flamenco and a powerful stage presence. As a soloist, she is known for her precise footwork and her ability to express a range of moods from light playfulness to dramatic intensity. Michelle performs weekly at the Kino café in Vancouver and she is the newest faculty member at Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy.

Andrew Klukas began studying flamenco dance at Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy with Oscar Nieto and Kasandra Lea. Andrew has travelled to Spain to study with Spanish dancers and choreographers including Javier Latorre, Raphael Campallo, Antonio El Pipa, Andres Pena, Domingo Ortega, Javier Baron, and Farruquito. Andrew works with various local groups and has performed at various events and festivals in the lower Mainland. He joined Mozaico Flamenco Dance Theatre in its productions of Espiritu Sin Nombre and Cafe de Chintas, Aurora Dance for its 2007 production of Alice in Wonderland, and Silkmoth Dance for its production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Andrew also studies flamenco percussion (cajon) and plays regularly at local venues.
