What f/ and shutter speed would be optimal for snowboard photos?
would 1/500s be good?
Or should i be shooting about 1/1000?
-
what size lens do you shoot snowboard photography with, i just bought a 200mm not sure if thats big enough

@FStoppers thx!! (im a little late)

im a high school photographer who wants to do this whats the cheapest i could do this lighting wise.
-
Do you shoot raw or jpeg? Thanks great video and how did you get started? :)
-
@Atte000 Dave wouldn't do it...he's really strict on that policy
-
what do you think about publishing images of tricks that werent landed?
Great video.. I only have one question: You mention that when you strobe you only have one shot and you have to catch the peak of the action... Isn't it possible to run a strobe continuously with a power pack? I've seen Chase Jarvis do this with his snowboard sequence photography.

@chipowerfilms101 that is only possible at a low power setting and Chase had a huge generator to help as well. Dave has to carry all of his lighting on a single sled and he is usually shooting at full power. The refresh rate is sometimes over 3 seconds.

oooh, is there not one hair on your head that say's I wanna JUMP? its so cool out there!! great shoot, great video!!
Is the flash sinc a prob? Also with the distance?
jelmerth 1 year ago
@jelmerth I had my snowboard boats on just because the snow was so deep and the pro boarders were trying to give me one of their boards to try the jump... Had I tried the jump this video would not have been created because I would have died.
In terms of syncing I am not sure if you mean was syncing a problem or was light output a problem. Syncing worked fine with the pocket wizards and we had plenty of light with his 1000watt powerpack and head. We did run our of juice for it in the end though
