At CMF, we have a demanding and highly responsible job we give shape to matter. We mould, forge and refine raw metal blocks to bring out their inner core and make perfect finished products. The graceful, smooth and shining shapes of shafts, pinions, rings, round bars, discs, bushes, flats, stems, connecting rods for marine engines, hydraulic blades and Francis vanes all show the excellence of our manufacturing techniques.

A quite special process takes place in our plants, where energy is turned into matter. The forging press plays the key role at the first stage of the manufacturing process. After being properly heated, metals undergo their first significant transformation.

Working temperatures range between 900°C and 1200°C so that metals can change both in their shape and in their features. Because of its high production capacity, CMF is equipped with two forging presses. We like to think that our factory has two beating hearts a 900-ton one and a 1500-ton one. However, we know that the real vital pulse comes from our employees, who work day by day with great dedication to manufacture the products you need.

All special alloys and steels we manufactyre meet with European standards and regulations. Following the reduction process by means of a press, half-finished products are cut and made ready for further mechanical working and the taking of test pieces.

Here you can see a pinion, which has already been forged and cut, as it makes its way towards the furnaces to go through annealing and/or normalization treatments. Quenching and tempering, carburizing and solution heat treatments are also carried out in our own facilities.

Precision machining is the last stage of the process. Pieces are sent to the mechanical workshop, where they are finished off, whether they have to be simply rough machined or turned into finished products.

The experienced and qualified staff of our testing laboratory has the last word. All necessary tests are conducted to guarantee that a product is thouroghly in compliance with the requested specifications and applicable regulations. Since there are so many different features to be tested and specifications to comply with, our laboratory has a wide rage of instruments, such as ultrasonic test equipment, liquid penetrants, tensile, impact and hardness testers, a microscopic tester and instruments for chemical composition and dimensional examinations.

The Cormòns area has a long and rich history and is the birthplace of Collio vines. Rare and much renowned wines have been produced here for centuries. And it is precisely here that our three factories are located, among invaluable and seemingly endless vineyards. To preserve the local environment is a moral commitment for us rather than just a choice. We have implemented a strict environmental policy which has also won us the ISO 14001 environmental certification. Although we will keep improving our environmental friendliness, our plant already has a self-generation network capable of satisfying the power requirements of our offices through a 70 kw photovoltaic system mounted on the roof. Moreover, gas consumption of our furnaces has dropped by 30% thanks to a cutting-edge technology which recycles hot air several times during a single heating process. Our present efforts are cast into the future to face new and even more demanding challenges.
