    Most notebooks usually have at least some sort of video out. It is also possible to get USB display adapters - not suitable for gaming but should be okay for applications - although I've not tried one of these as yet.

    I have 3 monitors, i have the AMD Eyefinity Setup for gaming's.

    but its also good for Desktop applications like you said programming on one and searching on the other :)

    Yes 3 monitors is cool - currently using 3 portrait monitors - the screen area is huge!

    I have a 7680x1440 on an Eyefinity setup with 3 27" monitors. It is brutal the screen real estate you get and it is a GREAT help for coding. It is not possible to live with one monitor anymore.

    Two is the minimum.
