I absolutely love this movie. It's tough to watch at times, because the religious intolerance is so sickening, but I think it's an excellent portrayal of what was going on at the time.
Not to mention Jean and Julien are adorable together! When Jean is taken away at the end my heart breaks D:

the best movie i've ever seen. it depresses and delights all at the same time. i also enjoyed 'empire of the sun', which deals with very, very similar themes, albeit with a hollywood veneer.

I will never stop loving this movie. The only thing is that it's hard for me to watch. It's extremely depressing and I cry during the last scene every time. It's one of those movies everyone should watch at some point.
