Kinda think you may have been throwing out a bit of gold when you where taking the magnetite out of the mattings, does happen fairly easily..

All the magnetite was put in another bucket and I did get quite a bit of gold from it after I ran it through the cleanup sluice.

Gold does not stick to magnets. Magnets take the iron out to make collecting gold easier.
