"I remember Mohawk Airlines coming to Detroit. Use to watch the BAC 111 land and take off."
BAC 1-11s were among the noisiest and most deafening of all commercial aircraft when taking off. They could wake up the dead for miles around, figuratively speaking. The only other aircraft that can match the noise decibels produced by the 1-11 is the Vickers VC10 which is now used only by the RAF.
@maximadog Yes Mohawk served Erie. Mohawk destinations are listed on Wikipedia, and there's a Mohawk Erie PA luggage tag up for auction on eBay item number 390323955554
Does anyone know wether or not Mohawk flew to Erie, Pa.? My dad used to fly out of Erie in the '60's and '70's and I know Allegheny used to fly there. We used to be able to go out on the tarmac and watch people get off the jet. Absolutely one of the coolest things I can remember from my childhood was seeing those 707's sitting there.

I flew on US AIR BAC 1 11 in 1986 and 1987 from
New York to Cleveland. I'm guessing these were
old Mowhak jets.
