I muted this pianist's sublime Mozart piano concerto No. 13 with "Things I Wonder" by the Shaggs. I KNOW it's cruel...but I'm going for laughs!
BTW--an off-Broadway musical about the Shaggs will premiere in a few months. And a movie about them is in the works.
I wish they'd make the movie already--so I can have my first viral video....
Johnny Depp..........I smell an Oscar.

This really made me LAUGH! Johnny Depp has GOT to play the role of Austin Wiggin in the biopic. Am I wrong? Someone tell me I'm wrong! No -- I'm right.

Something is fishy here. I count the first ten measures as 11/8, 3/8, 5/16, 2/4, 3/4, 11/8, 7/8, 7/8, 2/4, 5/8 - BUT MITSUKO IS CONDUCTING THEM ALL IN 4/4!!! This is not a real performance!

Thanks everyone. And BTW I am a big fan of Ushida. She is one of the best living interpreters of Mozart and Schubert

Let's properly credit Mitsuko Uchida for her work conducting from the piano. Here, she gets as much musicality out of the Shaggs as any conductor! (Check out similar postings of Carlos Kleiber and Christoph Eschenbach at the helm.) If you'd actually like to hear the music Dame Mitsuko was making in the original video, it's also here on YouTube.
I suppose you should mix in a little Mozart with your steady diet of the Shaggs.

Fantastic marriage of the unique charm of The Shaggs and a well edited companion video.
