This is a great biography. I enjoyed it enouch that I wrote a review of the book on Squidoo. If you want to see my review on squidoo search under the phrase ''Strange and Stranger.''

I loved Ditko. And I can't help feeling that ERIC STANTON (yes, him!) would have been a good artist for Spidey as well....

Anything on a decent Wally Wood retrospective book?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!
please please please concentrate on his 50s and early 60s stuff if you can get reprint rights (charlton short horror/suspense eg. from 'out this world' and 'the thing' and the atlas comics gems). YOU KNOW, THE GLORIOUS WORK THAT PUT HIM THE PANTHEON.
[i know i'm being greedy... but mr. alex toth deserves the fantagraphics treatment.]

You'll be glad to hear that the book will primarily focus on Ditko's early pre-Marvel work from '53-'54, mostly horror stuff.
We agree about Toth -- if we got a good proposal from a writer, we'd probably jump on that. We do have a new book from Blake Bell on Bill Everett titled "Fire & Water: Bill Everett, The Sub-Mariner & The Birth of Marvel Comics" coming out in late summer this year.

Will look forward to the Bill Everett.
As for Toth, surely a good representative reprint book would sell a bundle - especially with all the classic reprints that have hit the market doing so well.
Anyway, can't complain as you good folks are proudly flying the flag for this cinderella medium.
ps. glad to hear of the new Prince Valiant reprints!

Hey, here's more official details on the new Ditko book, which is planned to be the first in a series:
STRANGE SUSPENSE: THE STEVE DITKO ARCHIVES VOL. 1 will, for the first time, feature spectacular full-color reprints of every story from the first two years (1953-1954) of Ditko's career.
The book will also feature editor Bell's insightful historical notes, as well as a series of short essays by some of the comic book industry giants, who will speak to Ditko's influence and his unique craft.
