The Fugue for String Quintet in D major, Op. 137, was composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. It was composed in 1817, and was the only work he composed for string quintet in his late period. The quintet is a relatively short work, a typical performance lasting a little under two minutes. After Beethoven's death in 1827, Breitkopf & Härtel published the work, hence the high opus number. The composition is scored for 2 violins, 2 violas, and one violoncello.
@tbarrelier Thank you, for the nice comment! I always imagine of this bliss as if like angels come for Beethoven while he wrote it in one breath , it feels so humane and moving. It's so strange cause it has no prelude, yet it sounds so dense, considering it's a quintet fugue that pretty much sums up that it's one of his brightest undisclosed gems, and a finished masterpiece!

This is the music of angels. Perhaps Beethoven didn't finish the work because the specter of overwhelming beauty stopped him, as happened with Schubert after completing two movements of his 8th ("Unfinished") Symphony. Beethoven experienced something deeply ineffable, but communicable in the language of Heaven--Music. He died 123 years before I was born, but has been my teacher since childhood.
