Engine cold, failure obvious. BEGINNER!

anyone know anything about EP engine + control failure?
I was flying my PZ spitfire the other day and at the top of a climb the engine and control set to zero and stopped responding; 50 feet straight down!
I have noticed previously that if the reciever gets too hot it glitches and eventually stops responding, but once it gets going it's ok, as it has air intakes.
This has happened a few times before, but they didn't damage the plane, and sometimes I have been able to regain signal.
Any ideas

Next time, I don't know what you should do. Thanks.

Hope it's OK. At least it landed straight ahead and into a soft, grassy surface. No cartwheeling

@eclipser2004 Only the lading gear and the propeller. :) It will be ready to fly very soon.
